See You Next Year!

It was a riot, really.

With over 170 senior citizens, instructors and facilitators, invited guests and dignitaries, and media representatives, the luncheon was over none too soon. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for making the 2011 U3A Certificate Presentation Ceremony and Open Day a fun-filled event.

We’ve updated the “About Us” page with the latest press clippings and the 2011 Photo Album should be ready soon. Images are still being selected and edited at the moment. Due to the overwhelming response for the U3A Certificate Presentation Ceremony and Open Day 2011, the organizers would like to announce that registration for the luncheon is now closed. Tickets are being prepared for pick-up by paid members and their guests. No walk-ins on that day are admitted as this is a seated event.

U3A Certificate Presentation Ceremony & Open Day 2011

It is that time of the year again when we invite all U3A members to get together and celebrate our achievements. This year, the U3A KL & Selangor and the Institute of Gerontology will jointly host a luncheon at Palm Garden Hotel, IOI Resort, Putrajaya. Great opportunities to catch-up with each other, take photos and enjoy some performances by our fellow friends. Please kindly confirm your attendance and each member is only allowed a maximum of two paid guests. Payment amount and details are stated in the attendance form.

The function will be held on the same day as the focus group session on 10th December 2011 (Saturday). Tickets for the sit-down lunch will be issued upon payment.

After much delay, the newly updated Semester 2 Course List and Course Schedule are finally ready! Click on the links below to find out the latest courses on offer this semester.

To accommodate the return of courses like Swimming and Gamelan, as well as new courses like Intermediate Mandarin dan Digital Photography, we postponed Marhaban, Senaman Melayu Tua and Caring for the Aged to 2012. Several courses were replaced (Sewing to Cross stitch; Home Horticulture to Home Fertigation; Edible Vegetable Gardening to Basic Home Gardening), and other modifications were made as requested.

We will post any latest changes via the website (or sms where possible), so please visit our blog regularly to check for updates. Below, I am attaching the usual membership and course registration forms for your kind perusal.

ThirdAge Info – News Bulletin for the University of the Third Age (Kuala Lumpur & Selangor)

Dear members,

I am sure everyone is now back from the Hari Raya break and dying for some news on the 2nd Semester for the U3A program. Well, we have got a lot of changes and updates to the course schedule, which will be posted online and mailed to you by post. We heard your demands and will be introducing new intermediate level courses (e.g. Mandarin, Digital Photography) and continue some of the courses from Semester 1 (e.g. Swimming, Gamelan). Watch out for the new Course List and Course Schedule (version 1.7) on Thursday, 15 September 2011.

In lieu of the changes and updates, we are postponing Semester 2 by a week. Courses will start from 22nd September 2011 onwards and all members can sign-up and register till the end of this month.  Meanwhile, I am uploading the inaugural issue of the ThirdAge Info – a news bulletin published by U3A KL & Selangor. For Semester 2, 2011, the U3A program will offer 21 courses on Swimming, Fitness Yoga, Arabic for Special Purposes, Intermediate Mandarin, Chinese Folklore & Mythology, Sign Language Basics, Nutrition in Old Age, Managing Relationships & Sexual Health for Ageing Couples, Islamic Aqidah, Vocal Training, Gamelan, Pottery & Ceramics, Basic Arabic Calligraphy, Pastry Basics, Cross Stitch, Edible Vegetable Gardening, Ornamental Fishkeeping, Home Horticulture, Blogs & Social Networking, Basic Digital Photography and Intermediate Digital Photography. The final course list and schdule are subjected to further changes, revisions and/or amendments. A course will be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not met.

Everyone has been asking and wondering when the new semesters for 2011 will begin. Well, the long wait is over! Membership and course registrations for this year is now open and the Orientation Day will be held as follows:

This year, we have introduced some new courses along with the classes that have been proven popular with the U3A members. The U3A Malaysia Unit at the Institute of Gerontology, UPM and the Association for Lifelong Learning of Older Persons (U3A) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor look forward to another successful year of activities and we hope that more and more active and productive seniors will join our ranks.

Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan 2011, 19 Februari 2011

Persatuan Pembelajaran Sepanjang Hayat Warga Emas (U3A) Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor

Mesyuarat Agung Tahun 2011 U3A KL & Selangor telah selamat dijalankan dari 11 pagi hingga 1.30 petang pada hari Sabtu, 19 Februari 2011 di Dewan Kuliah 3, Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan, UPM, Serdang, Selangor.

Seramai 71 orang ahli U3A telah menghadiri majlis berkenaan yang turut merupakan Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan pertama sejak pendaftaran persatuan dengan Jabatan Pendaftaran Pertubuhan Malaysia pada 25 Oktober 2010 (No. Pendaftaran: 2522-10-SEL). Acara majlis bermula dengan bacaan doa oleh Tuan Hj. Jamaludin Ismail dan diikuti dengan laporan aktiviti AJK Protem oleh En. Azlan Hussain.

Pemilihan ahli jawatankuasa baru (2011-2012) telah dijalankan dengan lancar dan keputusan akhir adalah seperti berikut:
